  • Identified Hazard: LOCATION & EXCURSION NOT AGE/DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE OR CHILD FOCUSED

    Identified Potential Hazards: Location is not suitable for the ages and development of all children resulting in inadequate supervision and injury.  Excursions not being child focused resulting in behaviour and supervision hazards.

    Potential Injury/Issue: Multiple physical injuries, child seperated from group,  financial penalties for non-compliance to legislation and duty of care.

    Educator Will Minimise Risk By: An educator as per regulations must physically attend a proposed venue PRIOR to taking children to identify and assess risks to make sure they are age appropriate 

  • Identified Hazard: SUPERVISION AND AWARENESS OF SURROUNDINGS

    Identified Potential Hazards: Inattention resulting in injury to Educator, children or general public. Legal responsibility to ensure safety of children in care

    Potential Injury/Issue: Separation of child from group, Multiple injuries, Financial penalties

    Identified Potential Hazards: Children must have access to food and water at all times as per regulations, Children running into public holding hot drinks and food

    Identified Potential Hazards: Children being hit by a car. Children wandering off.

    Potential Injury:  Multiple injuries, crushing

  • When walking from the car into the venue is this the path we take. It depends where we park, however we will always travel around the edge of the carpark to the main entrance. Path marked below.

    Identified Potential Hazards: Children become overwhelmed

    Potential Injury:  Multiple injuries

    Educator Will Minimise Risk by: The educator needs to reevaluate the risks and maintain full supervision

  • Identified Hazard: MAINTENANCE OF THE VENUE AND EQUIPMENT

    Identified Potential Hazards: Venue is damaged or has broken equipment

    Potential Injury:  Trips, Multiple Injuries, Scratches

    Educator Will Minimise Risk by: Educator is responsible for making sure the venue is safe for children’s use before attending the venue. Educators are also responsible for assessing the venue upon arrival before the children enter proposed areas. Educators are responsible for finding out when the last safety check was performed.

  • Identified Hazard: CLEANING OF VENUE 

    Identified Potential Hazards: Children/educator being injured by broken or dirty equipment

    Potential Injury:  Bodily fluids, contaimination

    Educator Will Minimise Risk by: The educator is responsible for minimising cross-contamination to the children. The educator needs to be aware of when the large/small play equipment, toilets, floors and kitchen (if they are serving food and drinks) were cleaned and how often.

  • Identified Hazard:  TOILETING

    Identified Potential Hazards: Children's needs for toileting are accommodated

    Potential Injury/Issue: Bodily fluids, contamination

    Educator Will Minimise Risk by: No child will enter a public toilet building unaccompanied without the educator. All toilet/cubicles are to be checked prior to each use for hazards. All children will accompany the educator to maintain supervision levels.

  • Identified Hazard:  IMPACT AREAS: Swings, Cableway, Rocking Equipment, Carousels, Slides, Climbing Apparatus, Mobile Equipment, Staircases, Tubes, Level Changer

    Identified Potential Hazards: Children become caught in equipment. Children fall from significant heights with no soft-fall. Children are hit with equipment

    Potential Injury/Issue: Multiple Injuries, Broken bones, Head injuries, Crushing, Concussion

    Educator Will Minimise Risk by: Climbing apparatus, mobile equipment slides - The educator needs to ensure that the apparatus is not slippery and or wet. The educator needs to have clear rules with the children on appropriate behaviour when using these types of equipment. The educator will ensure that only one child at a time will be using a single play equipment.

    Identified Potential Hazards: No shade available for children to have protection from weather

    Potential Injury/Issue: Burns

    Educator Will Minimise Risk by: Educators are required to provide children with adequate shading/protection from high UV ratings, extreme weather conditions..

  • Identified Hazard:  JUMPING CASTLE

    Identified Potential Hazards: Children engage in ‘horseplay’ during participation by either themselves or others

    Potential Injury/Issue: Multiple Injuries including head/spinal injuries

    Educator Will Minimise Risk by: The educator will need to supervise the children in care to make sure they are following the venue's rules when on the jumping castle

  • Identified Hazard:  BALL PIT

    Identified Potential Hazards: Injury from damaged/broken balls in ball pool

    Potential Injury/Issue: Cuts, trip and fall hazards

    Educator Will Minimise Risk by: The educator needs to be aware of the venue's rules in regards to ball pool activities
